Coco Chanel´s B-day!

Fashion designer Coco Chanel, born August 19, 1883, in Saumur, France, is famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits and little black dresses. Chanel was raised in an orphanage and taught to sew. She had a brief career as a singer before opening her first clothes shop in 1910. In the 1920s, she launched her first perfume and eventually introduced the Chanel suit and the little black dress, with an emphasis on making clothes that were more comfortable for women. She died on January 10, 1971.

It’s hard to imagine walking in the footsteps of a legend 31 Rue Cambon, tucked away on a narrow street is the building Gabrielle Chanel (Coco) purchased in the 1920’s to house her incredibly successful fashion business. The levels of the building are still maintained today as Coco had originally set them up- a shop on the ground floor, haute couture studio on the 1st and her apartment on the 2nd.

La diseñadora de moda Coco Chanel, nacida 19 de agosto 1883, en Saumur, Francia, es famosa por sus diseños atemporales, trajes de marcas y pequeños vestidos negros. Chanel fue criada en un orfanato y enseñó a coser. Tuvo una breve carrera como cantante antes de abrir su primera tienda de ropa en 1910.
