The five best make-over movie moments

Hello everyone!

1- She's All That
In the same vein as The Princess Diaries and Funny Face, the ridiculously named Laney Boggs (Rachel Leigh Cook) is transformed by removing her glasses and defining her eyes more. The kind-hearted jock Zack (played by Freddie Prinze Jnr - blast from the past!) falls in love with Laney because unlike his queen bee girlfriend she cares about other extra-curricular activities, like painting and hanging out with her family.

2-Crazy Stupid Love
In one of the best shopping scenes of all time (click on the link for a re-see, it's worth it, we promise), Jacob (Ryan Gosling) takes Cal (Steve Carrell) shopping for a new wardrobe, and consequently, a new lease on life.
Lesson learnt? No velcro wallets. Send this to your brother/friend/boyfriend/father right now.

Another Garry Marshall film (he directed Pretty Woman), Mia suddenly discovers that she's not in fact an ordinary high school student in San Francisco but a princess from a make-believe European country. Her glasses are removed, her hair is straightened, her brows are tidied and she's given a crash course in decorum.

The remaking of Tai (which she considers a 'charitable' deed) into a popular and more 'socially accepted' student reveals Cher's selfish and superficial tendencies. A modern telling of Jane Austen's Emma, the new Tai is more confident, less naive and at times, even less nice - and she starts to threaten Cher's social standing.
Luckily this is a feel good movie and she ends up with the right guy in the end anyway and they all stay friends.

5-The Devil Wears Prada
Embracing natural fibres over acrylic, getting rid of her sensible shoes and an improved haircut, Andie Sachs' make-over is analogous to her career prospects.
Even after she leaves the hallowed hallways of Runway magazine, for you know, a more Serious job at a Serious Newspaper, she still keeps the sleek hair and chic wardrobe. The underlying message of the film could be 'look nice but don't be consumed by it' - there's still a real life to be had.

Xoxo,male
